The Lavender Parlor

The space already included several meaningful pieces the client loved, including four custom lavender chairs, a piano, beautiful artwork, and custom draperies trimmed in soft lavender and gray. Lavender was the client’s favorite color, so preserving and thoughtfully elevating that palette became an important part of the design direction.

Approach

Our goal was not to completely reinvent the room, but rather to thoughtfully refine and layer it so it finally felt complete. To create greater architectural character and continuity with the nearby Dining Room, we added custom wall molding throughout the space. We also painted the walls a soft lavender tone and highlighted the fireplace in a deeper, moodier lavender color to create additional depth and contrast within the room.

The existing coffee and end tables had beautiful sculptural forms but visually felt too heavy sitting directly on the floor, so we designed and installed custom Lucite bases to visually lighten the furniture and give the room a more elevated and airy feeling. We also introduced a beautiful new coffee table, a statement ceiling fixture, and custom pillows for each chair to bring additional softness, texture, and personality into the space.

One of the most special pieces in the room was a beloved secretary desk painted in a high gloss baby blue finish. We intentionally echoed that same baby blue tone throughout the room and connected it back to the adjacent Dining Room to create a greater sense of flow and continuity between the spaces. Rather than minimizing the desk, we leaned into its personality, allowing it to become an unexpected focal point that balanced beautifully against the softer lavender palette.

Delivery / Result

The finished room feels polished, layered, and deeply personal to the client. The custom millwork appears as though it had always belonged in the home, while the thoughtful refinements throughout the space helped transform the room from “almost finished” to fully realized.

Most importantly, the Front Room now feels warm, welcoming, and intentional, creating a beautiful first impression while still functioning comfortably for everyday family life.
