These clients love to entertain, their home is always buzzing with friends, family, and weekend get-togethers. The existing basement kitchen, however, was outdated and undersized, making it impossible to host the way they wanted. Their top priority was adding a large island for gathering, gaming, and grazing.

Overview

Along with the basement kitchen, the adjoining guest bathroom needed a fresh look to match their vibrant personalities, and the first-floor powder room was due for an elegant refresh. The client wanted to preserve the purple floral theme she’d always loved, but in a more elevated, sophisticated way.

Approach

We began in the basement by removing the existing kitchen and carpet, replacing the flooring with a durable, waterproof impregnated hardwood that instantly warmed the space. The new semi-custom cabinetry was designed around a showstopping island — large enough to seat seven comfortably and become the true hub for entertaining. Along with a metallic semi-reflective backslash we added custom iron and glass shelving for their bar collection.

The basement bathroom became an ode to her Cincinnati Bengals fandom, but in the most stylish way possible. We custom-designed a “Who Dey” mosaic shower floor, laid carbon-gray porcelain tile in a herringbone pattern, and added a playful tiger motif wallcovering. The sleek new black vanity, improved lighting, and updated mirror gave the space a boutique-like finish.

Upstairs, the first-floor powder room became a jewel box of texture and detail. We installed a custom solid-stone vanity with an integrated sink and two working drawers for storage. The extra long carved marble apron and backsplash mimic the intricate white bone inlay detail of the mirror above it. Lavender grasscloth wraps the walls and ceiling, while a purple floral wallcovering nods to the original motif, a refined reinvention of what she loved most.

Delivery / Result

The finished spaces are a perfect reflection of the clients’ personalities, vibrant, welcoming, and effortlessly fun. The basement now serves as the ultimate entertaining zone, complete with a massive island that brings everyone together. The Bengals-inspired guest bathroom strikes the right balance between bold and chic, while the first-floor powder room feels timeless and layered, like a small luxury escape.
